Fireworks are the highlight!
Of course, we can't be content with the mondo fireworks in the park, the boys love doing their own fireworks here on the street after the big show. This was our first time of being here at home for the fourth, we really enjoyed our little town. It is the place to be in the valley apparently... People have been telling us this for years so it was fun to see it all for ourselves. We were invited by some friends who live down by the river in Independence to watch the fireworks from their place. It was an amazing view. The boys had a blast (pun intended) watching from the top of the motor home. Yes we drove our motor home 2 1/2 miles to our friend's house to watch the fireworks. LOL I just wish I had taken a photo of them up there. They took their lawn chairs up alng with their Subway sandwiches and loved every minute of it.
Swim Team
Now, Matt is a rock star in the pool... His body is just made for swimming. He just knifes thru the pool. He is so fun to watch. He is really competitive with it... This year was going to be a bit of a challenge for him being on the young end of the 13-14 age group, however he hasn't missed a beat. He is swimming at a High School State qualifying pace (and he just finished 7th grade.) We are just really hoping that Central keeps sports going. He really has great potential there. He has plans of swimming with the high school group through the year, he was invited to swim with them last year too but found he was too busy with football, basketball then track. He won't be allowed to compete but can continue to train with them through the year, while they are not in competetitive season.
Golf!!!
We made loose plans to get away to another course or two out at the coast soon. I can't wait. I hope my stamina is up by then.
Independence Day Parade
I have been working on banners like a crazy person all week. Here is the product of my labors. The BC Bemrose signage is all me.
I felt very invested in the parade so we decided to stay in town this year rather than doing our traditional waterski weekend with our friends. One of Craig's basketball players was married last night too, so there was alot. (he is from England, so the 4th of July is lost on him apparently.)
We really missed it and are looking forward to the near future of being invited out to the coast... (Hint, hint... Duane & Tammy) We did get some golf in with them, so it worked out okay... Photos to follow.
Marcus really loved the idea of the hometown parade and barbecues. He was invited by the Cooper-Leavitts to participate in handing out the toothbrushes for the Main Steet Dental float. He was so excited. He changed his mind about the riding of the bike and just rode and waved a giant toothbrush. The photos are blurry because I was shot with a water bazooka from the float right before Marcus... GRRR. I am just really glad my camera survived. I was really soaked there for a minute.
